Breaking Up with My Default Stack
π§βπ» Speakers:
Eva Schwarz - Software Engineer and Tribe Lead with
~15 years of experience bringing PM ideas to life, fighting bugs,
facing incidents, and still being amazed by how beautiful code can
be. Iβve been with willhaben for 6 years, currently supporting the
mission of breaking the monolith and migrating our search engine.
Talk description:
What happens behind the scenes when the lights blink red at
Austriaβs largest marketplace? This talk takes you on the full
journey of an incident at willhaben - from the adrenaline of the
first pager alarm to the relief of the fix, and finally, the crucial
post-mortem. We will explore how we turn chaos into structured
response, practice a blameless culture, and use every outage as fuel
to build a more resilient platform. Join us to see how we ensure
that a software failure today leads to a stronger system tomorrow.
Patrick Favre - Software engineer
with 15+ years of experience, starting with Java and evolving toward
cloud-native architectures.
Currently a Lead Developer at Senacor Technologies, focused on
building scalable systems in complex enterprise environments, with a
strong interest in how cloud requirements are changing the way we
choose our tech stacks.
Talk description:
As software has moved toward cloud-native and cloud-first
architectures, the constraints and priorities of our systems have
changed.
In this talk, Iβll explore how that shift reshaped the way I
evaluate technologies - as a Java developer at heart - and why I
sometimes choose alternatives to the JVM, while still seeking the
strengths I value from the Java ecosystem.
Location, Food & Drinks are sponsored by willhaben π«Ά
